Spiritual Counseling

What is Spiritual Counseling?

Spiritual counseling sessions are a path to connect with our heart’s own wisdom. My approach is informed by thirty years of experience in providing spiritual guidance, as well as training in clinical and pastoral counseling and a doctorate in transpersonal psychology. I offer the gift of presence: embodied listening. When we extend deep listening to ourselves and others, we touch a place of wholeness, clarity and wellbeing. It makes it possible for the other person to sense their own inherent worth, and tap into their own inner resources.

I see this creation of a holding environment, and trustworthy relationship as the key responsibility of the counselor. Relationship heals. This quality of connection promotes transformation and healing. This practice of presence is experienced by clients as nurturing and grounding. I have also trained with Leslie Nipps in systems-based counseling (systemic constellations), which provides a way to work with the self-in-relationship. My philosophy of care has also been informed by anti-racism work. Within these sessions, I can provide support as a Zen teacher or a meditation coach, or simply hold space for your own soul-making process.
